Andros History

Andros was born on KO-35(Karovan Outpost 35), where he was raised with his sister Karone. When they were both very young, Karone was kidnapped by a bounty hunter named Darkonda. This was something Andros always blamed himself for, despite being too young to stop it. It became one of his life’s goals to find Karone and the monster that took her. He was consumed by it.
Desperate to find Karone, Andros joins the military and is later appointed the Red Space Ranger around. KO-35 was attacked a few years later by Dark Spectre’s forces. Both Andros, his best friend, the Silver Ranger Zhane, the other 4 Space Rangers and the KO-35 military couldn't stand against them. The forces overpowered the planet, leaving many Karovans dead and the rest to run for their lives. The attacks were brutal, bombs were going off everywhere, and assault vehicles firing; the entire planet was a war zone.
During one of the last battles of the planetary wide evacuation, Andros was losing against a monster. At this point, Andros had already lost 4 other members of his team, with only Zhane left. With Andros about to take a fatal blow, Zhane ran in and took it for him. Zhane saved the life of his best friend and killed the monster in the process. At this point Andros had lost his home, his sister, his planet, his team and now his best friend. Overcome by grief, he took Zhane, still morphed and in a coma from his near-fatal injuries, to the Astro Megaship where he froze him in stasis and hoped over time he would heal and wake up. In the end it took Zhane 2 1/2 years to recover--and Andros didn't tell his new teammates about Zhane until they actually stumbled upon his frozen body in cryogenic stasis 1/2 year after being on the ship.
While his planet's citizens fled, Andros chose another direction. Instead of protecting his people, he went on the offensive, taking the Astro Megaship. The Karovans and the Karovan Military were then without their ranger team and had to fend for themselves. The surviving Karovans had no choice but to planet hop in hopes of keeping one step ahead of Dark Spectre. It’s worth noting that as Space Rangers, both Zhane and Andros seem to be a branch of the Karovan military. Andros deserted. Later Zhane does go back to help the rebel Karovan military fight against Dark Spectre. Andros, however, does not.
For 2 years after Zhane’s mortal injury, Andros was left alone on the Astro Megaship. The only ‘human’ contact he had was the ship’s AI, DECA. Then DECA saw Andros’ future teammates drifting in a shuttle and pulled them in. Andros first met his new team (depowered former Turbo Rangers) on his ship--specifically on his bridge, touching his stuff. After attacking them, Andros decided the best course of action was to abandon his new friends on a nearby moon to fend for themselves. Andros tried to continue on his journey, but didn't get very far before he was arm wrestled and guilt tripped into going back to get them, and empowering them as Space Rangers.
As a ranger, Andros fought Astronema and Dark Spectre to keep them from conquering other planets. Now with his new team, he gained assistance in a new goal: find and rescue Zordon before the forces of Darkness completely drain his energy, killing him. It wasn't something he could do on his own, as much as Andros tried. It was when he found out Astronema’s secret that his world shattered: she was Karone, evil, brainwashed and absolutely convinced that he and other Power Rangers had killed her parents, and her brother. Previously, Andros would have done anything to find his sister. Now, his sister was in front of him, trying her hardest to kill him. He dealt with this all quite well; by sneaking off to talk to her alone, and generally taking really, really stupid risks--like bringing her on board the ship. If the other rangers hadn't stepped in and tied her up, he probably would have given her the security codes too.
Lucky for them, she defected. This was all very short lived, however. Dark Spectre ordered Darkonda to abduct her again, and this time torture and brainwash her. Her comm with Andros cut out just as she began screaming. Now her will and emotions were completely overridden by cybernetic implants, leaving nothing to chance. Astronema, with any remaining good in her completely gone, unleashed her newest creation, the Psycho Rangers. The Psycho Rangers were the Power Rangers greatest threat. They read their minds, knew their fighting style, what they would do before they did it. They also could recognize their voices, their communicators and morpher sounds. To top it all off, the Psychos were a lot stronger and smarter than them. The Power Rangers were almost completely helpless. Eventually they were able to pick the Psycho Rangers off one by one (but not before they sent a few rangers to the ICU), tricking them into fighting between themselves.
Astronema, now in charge of the United Alliance of Evil, succeeded in coordinating a mass assault on the universe. Evil took over every planet, with any remaining forces for good taken prisoner. The only ones left to stand were the Space Rangers. Having only one chance, Andros made the decision to go to Earth. He believed the rest of the universe either didn’t have a chance or had already been overtaken. Earth was the best shot for a last stand.
On the verge of defeat, the Rangers tried their hardest to fight for Earth’s citizens. Everyone that is, except Andros, who was yet again doing his own thing. Andros headed to the Dark Fortress, where Astronema was leading the battle. He seemed to think he could just ‘talk’ to her, and she’d magically realize she didn't want to be Queen of the Universe and have people polishing her boots with their tongues.
Needless to say, Astronema didn’t want to talk. After she mercilessly beat him for a while, Andros grabbed his weapon to reflect a shot of lightning aimed at his head. It reflected back at her, killing her.
Also aboard the Dark Fortress was Zordon, who wanted Andros to kill him, feeling that the Rangers would never win otherwise. There was no hope. At Zordon's insistence and with much hesitation on Andros' part, he shattered Zordon's energy tube, releasing a wave of good energy which turned the conquering evil to sand. Since both Andros and Karone were at ‘ground zero’ of the Z-wave, they both absorbed some of Zordon's energy. The most immediate effect was that Andros revived Karone with his own tears. Karone was revived, sans implants and brainwashing.
While Andros was fighting for his life, his team was forced to reveal themselves to the public, breaking one of Zordon’s most sacred rules for Rangers on Earth. These rules are as follows:
--Never use your powers for personal gain.
--Never escalate a battle unless you are forced to.
--Keep your identity secret. No one may know you are a Power Ranger.(completely broken in the season finale. This rule also doesn't seem to be in effect on Andros' home planet of KO-35 and other alien worlds, only on Earth.)
So now they had to duck paparazzi as well. Unfortunately for Andros, the citizens of Angel Grove got a great view of him carrying his sister’s dead body. He seemed to have gotten used to the hero worship for the most part, as demonstrated by the next Red Ranger, whose heart practically stopped upon meeting him.
Andros was called into active duty once more when the Psycho Rangers were revitalized and started to terrorize a new team of rangers. Andros and later the 4 other members of his team (since he yet again went to do his own thing without telling anyone), teamed up with the newest team of rangers and succeeded in destroying them. The Psycho Rangers were finally dead, all except the Pink Psycho Ranger. Psycho Pink then almost killed Cassie, the Pink Space Ranger, but the Pink Galaxy Ranger stepped in and sacrificed her own life to save her. Andros counseled Cassie on the loss, familiar with the pain that comes when someone sacrifices their own life for yours. The 5 Space Rangers depart on their Galaxy Gliders, wishing the new team their best despite the circumstances.
We see Andros a few years later in Forever Red, where he and another veteran Ranger discovered a plot to take over the universe. They then recruit other red rangers to join the fight where they defeat the evil before it gets off the ground. And yes, Andros got this information by trailing and blatantly spying on the enemy.
